Painfully Obvious^® is a public service campaign designed to educate parents, teachers, and students about the dangers of prescription drug abuse. Prior to the Painfully Obvious^® initiative, there was no national program to address the growing issue of prescription drug abuse among young people.

When used properly prescription, medicines help people manage medical conditions and even save lives. Abused, these same life-saving medicines can result in addiction and death.

Abusing prescription drugs is all about losing:  losing your self-respect, losing your reputation, losing the trust of people you care most about.  In short, the reasons not  to abuse prescription drugs are Painfully Obvious^®.
